A young girl of around seven or eight was handing out candy as they do around the courtyard. I was sitting as she approached me. She offered me candy and I said thank you. She then reached into the plastic bag and took a candy and gave it to me. I did not want to reject a little girl learning to be generous. I obliged and took the candy. Then she took a small step and handed a candy to the emptiness next to me. It freaked me out. I said to her, “Who’s sitting there?”

She said, “The old man doesn’t want candy.” There was nobody there. I said I would take it for him. And she said thank you and left. It was very strange as the little girl was absolutely convinced that an elderly man was seated next to me.
